Application Instructions
The Master of Education in Curriculum & Instruction at AOEU is designed for passionate educators who want to strengthen their skills in curriculum design, instructional practice, and educational leadership. Your application is an opportunity to demonstrate your experience, professional competency, and readiness for graduate-level study.
You’ll submit the following:
- Application form
- Micro-portfolio (2 artifacts + descriptions)
- Writing sample (1–2 pages)
- Application fee ($50)
- Official transcripts
Read below for the micro-portfolio requirements, writing sample prompt, and information about sending transcripts.
2. Micro-Portfolio
Showcase your understanding of curriculum and instruction through selected teaching artifacts. Combine artifacts and descriptions into one document (.pdf preferred). Include:
- Two artifacts that showcase curriculum, instruction, assessment, or reflective practice (original lesson plans, curriculum maps, assessments, or documentation of reflective practice
- A 2–3 sentence description for each artifact explaining what it is, your involvement, and how it demonstrates your expertise
Tips: Formats may be links, screenshots, images, or other accessible media. Proofread and spell-check all descriptions and explain the context, your role, and why you selected each artifact. Upload to the student portal or email your admissions counselor for upload.
Writing Sample
Write a 1–2 page response (professional grammar, clear organization) addressing:
- Why is visual art a necessary part of student learning?
- Which specialization are you pursuing and why? What is your motivation for pursuing a master’s degree from AOEU?
Tips: Use personal examples and/or references to strengthen your response. Ensure your writing is professional, organized, and proofread. Upload to the student portal or email your admissions counselor for upload.
Official Transcripts
Transcripts that document a conferred bachelor’s degree or higher must be sent directly from your institution.
