Resolving Missing First/Last Name from SSO Provider Blocking Access to Your AOE Account

Why can’t I log in to my AOE account?

When you log in using your single sign-on (SSO) provider, the SSO provider did not supply your first name and last name. Our system requires both first and last names to create your Art of Education (AOE) account. Until the name fields are populated in the SSO provider profile, you will be blocked from accessing your AOE account. 


How do I fix it? 

Please follow the appropriate steps for your SSO Provider to add or update your first and last name. If your account is managed by your district, you may need to contact your IT department to make this adjustment on your behalf.

  4. What should I do if I updated my name and I still can’t log in? 


Google Workspace SSO


If you or your district uses Google as the SSO provider: 

  1. Sign in to your Google Account at myaccount.google.com.
  2. On the left side, click “Personal Info”.
  3. Under the “Basic info,” click “Name.”
  4. Next to the current name, click the edit icon.
  5. Enter the correct First and Last name. 
  6. Click Save.
  7. After the change is complete, try logging in to your AOE account again.

Clever SSO


If your district uses Clever as the SSO provider: 

  1. Log in to your Clever dashboard. 
  2. Click on your name at the top right corner of the page. 
  3. Click Profile.
  4. Under Account Information, click Edit.
  5. Enter the correct First and Last name. 
  6. After the change is complete, try logging in to your AOE account again.

Classlink SSO


In most cases, if your district uses Classlink as the SSO provider, a ClassLink teacher cannot change their name on their account. You will need to contact one of the following: 

  • Your school’s IT or technology administrator
  • Your media specialist or help desk
  • The relevant school administrator who can update information in your system.



What should I do if I’ve updated my name but still can’t log in?

If, after completing the steps above, you still cannot access your AOE account, please contact AOE Support at help@theartofeducation.edu. Provide the following information to help us expedite your case: 

  • Your first and last name as they should appear on your AOE account
  • The email address you used to attempt login
  • The SSO provider type (Google, Clever, Classlink)
  • The name of your school/district using the SSO (if applicable)
  • A note stating you have already updated your first/last name in your SSO profile as per the instructions above
  • (Optional) A screenshot of the error message you receive when logging into AOE

Once we receive these details, we will work with you to resolve the issue.
